Description:
The thermostat controls the opening and closing of air flaps on the 914 via a pull wire and thus regulates the cooling of the air-cooled engine. This ensures a short cold running phase while the engine is fully cooled under load.
If the wire is broken or stiff, the flaps are no longer reliably adjusted. This results in unnecessarily long warm-up phases or overheating of the engine. It is therefore important to replace the Bowden cable in good time so that the temperature control can function properly again.
