Description:
The engine mounts of modern vehicles are so-called hydro mounts. These are oil-filled two-chamber systems that function like suspension shock absorbers. This allows better, linear damping properties with greater damping travel to be achieved than with conventional rubber mounts. However, the hydromounts on the engine fail in the same way as shock absorbers. This is noticeable through pounding noises and vibrations from the engine.
