Description:
The thermostat controls the large and small cooling circuits and thus regulates the cooling of the water-cooled engine. This ensures a short cold running phase while the engine is fully cooled under load.
If the thermostat is defective or stuck, the engine only runs with one of the two cooling circuits. This results in unnecessarily long warm-up phases or the engine overheating.
It is therefore important to replace a hanging thermostat at an early stage so that the temperature control of the cooling water can function properly again.
