Description:
The fuel accumulator maintains the system pressure in the system after the engine stops (holding pressure). The remaining pressure prevents gas bubbles from forming in the line during a hot start, as the fuel is under pressure and does not boil as quickly. In addition, the holding pressure during a cold start ensures that there is always sufficient fuel available. In this way, the fuel tank ensures good engine starting behavior.
Pressure fluctuations in the system caused by the fuel pump or similar are also compensated for.
A defect is indicated by poor starting behavior and can be detected with the help of a pressure gauge in the fuel line.
